CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Hello everyone!!

I´m studying dentistry, I´m in 2nd year and the truth is that many times I have thought about the changes that could be made in the study program, sometimes I think that th
ey should mix some subjects, remove some not so important units and that the schedule don´t be so extensive.

In the first year of the career I consider that there´re contents that could be removed to make the academic load more enjoyable. I would leave physics and chemistry only in the 1st semester and eliminate some not so necessary content.

In the second year I have 3 subjects that I consider to be very similar, since sometimes the same themes are repeated, these are: Evidence-Based Dentistry, Anthropology and Health Promotion. What I would do with these 3 subjects is to unite them, to have less workload.

I know that with some modifications to the study program, the career could last 5 years, since 6 years still seems a bit excessive, apart from the fact that in other countries the dentistry career lasts less.

Regarding the online classes, I liked the methodology because I can better organize my time, see the classes again and I can sleep much more than I would sleep in face-to-face classes. But I would like to have more face-to-face activities next semester because I think that always watching classes through a screen is a bit tiring and affects concentration.

TIME TRAVEL TO THE PAST

I always think that I would love to have a time machine to travel back in past. Why to the past? Because it fascinates me to see how the world has changed and how different 2021 is from what it was 1650, for example.

Where else I would like to go from the past would be to the time of classicism in Europe, in the second half of the 18th century. I would like to go to this time because I like how people dressed so elegantly, women with those big dresses and very crazy wigs! I would also like to listen to the music of the time, to listen to Mozart and Beethoven in their stardom would be a delight and I also want to marvel at the works of art.

I would like to go with my family because I want them to see and enjoy the same things that I do, apart from that if I were alone I would miss them.

What we would do with my family would be to go to an opera or a classical music concert, we would also travel through many streets of Europe to be enchanted by the architecture. 

Although everything looks very nice, I think I wouldn´t like to stay there since I
wouldn´t feel so free in that society because I probably couldn´t study dentistry and I would miss technology a little hahaha.

MY FUTURE JOB

I’m considering to work as a dentist because it´s the career that I´m studying at the university but specifically I’d like to be an oral rehabilitator or implantologist, for this I would first have to do the specialty of oral rehabilitation or implantology. So, I want to work in one of those two specialties because both are quite similar and focus on returning a smile in a functional and aesthetic way to the patient.

My work would be more of an indoor environment since dentists are established in a public or private dental consultation and I would´t have to travel as part of my job. I´ve in mind to work in a public consultation because I feel that public oral health is much needed since people with limited resources cannot access it due to the high costs of private health.

Apart from working as a dentist, at the same time I would also like to work as a university teacher of preclinical activities in dentistry because I like to teach and share knowledge in an interactive, concrete and theoretical way.

Within my expectations is to work from Monday to Friday, since I would´t like to work on weekends because I feel that one must have time to rest and recover after a strenuous week.

My Childhood

Something that I never stopped seeing in my childhood was the series "Barney and his friends". My mother bought me a Barney with which I would not stop playing and pretended that he was a friend. Barney's songs are not erased from my memory yet!

I remember having a great time with my cousins because we took advantage of playing games, we dressed up and did shows; I felt very happy in those moments. I remember that my favorite day of the week was Sunday because I always went out with my mother to the museums and libraries, I loved that. I really miss going to museums and walking the streets of Santiago.

Since I can remember I love listening to classical music, that's why from a very young age I wanted to learn piano. At age 8 my dream came true and I met my piano teacher, and with a lot of discipline and effort I managed to learn to play the music that I loved to listen to, this was my favorite after-school activity. I went to classes twice a week and every day he practiced.

My childhood in general was enriching, it opened the world to me and allowed me to value culture and the love of art.

My favourite cartoon

It was very difficult to think of my favorite cartoon but I remembered how I enjoyed watching "Candy" when I was little and when I saw it again in my teens. In my childhood I watched "Candy" with my mother every afternoon and I was definitely captivated because it´s a very addictive series, so I couldn't stop watching it.

This series tells the story of an orphan girl, from her childhood in an orphanage to when she´s a young adult. Everything happens to Candy (which is the name of the protagonist), from being abandoned, to falling in love several times, being adopted by a millionaire family, being a nurse, among other things. Despite everything that happens to her, she continues with her principles, values ​​and her courage.

I liked this animated series because it´s a very tragic and entertaining story at the same time, the characters are very well developed and they were of different styles. I remember that I cried in a chapter because my favorite character had died :(. I highly recommend this series because you can see it at any age because its plot is very exciting and talks about very important things so it leaves you several lessons.

The best concert I´ve been to

I don´t forget the day when I was able to enjoy the music of my favorite band! On September 14th of 2017 at the Monumental Stadium I could see "Bon Jovi". This is an American rock band formed in 1983 that began to be known internationally in the late 80s and that continues to this day due to its very popular music, even this blog is called "Runaway" in honor of the first song by This band that made her jump to stardom.

Continuing with the concert, this was the 2nd concert that I went to by this band and I could enjoy it much more than the 1st because in the first I was 11 years old and I didn´t know all the songs of this band, but in the 2017 concert I already had 15 years and I knew all the songs so enjoyed each one.

The atmosphere during this concert was amazing and electrifying because I was very close to the stage and I could visualize Bon Jovi very well. People sang in unison and many generations were seen united by an artist. I felt very safe and exciting in a calm and happy atmosphere. I remember that many people were characterized by the artist and that it was a spectacular concert, Jon Bon Jovi voice was hypnotic and powerful and the instruments were heard very well, the stage setting was varied because it united the old hits with the current ones. I just hope I can go to a Bon Jovi concert again!

The best place I´ve ever been to

"Even the moon was enchanted by the beauty of Barcelona"

On February of 2018 I went to Barcelona with my mother and I was really impressed with how beautiful and multicultural that is the city. Going to this place was one of my favorite destinations because I´m a lover of architecture and museums. 

What I liked the most about Barcelona were the architectural works of Gaudí, it´s exciting to see the Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, La Pedrera, among others of his architectural works. I felt that walking the streets was like walking through a museum because walking around you find works by Dalí, Picasso and other famous painters, sculptors and architects, this makes this city unique and special.

 

Other impressive places in Barcelona is "La Rambla" which is a walk full of street and multicultural art, and also the  "La Boqueria" market that allows us to enjoy gastronomy and various local flavors.

I recommend visiting this city because it´s an entertaining place with many museums, art, beach, parks, sports venues like the Barcelona stadium and bars, since there is a lot of night life.
